Permanent Collection Loans

Kemper Museum extends the reach of its Permanent Collection by loaning artworks to other institutions to be presented in special exhibitions. In this way, the Permanent Collection engages new audiences across the globe and contributes to research and scholarship in contemporary art. 

Current Loans

Malcolm X #13 by Barbara Chase-Riboud (American, born 1939) is on loan in the exhibition, Barbara Chase-Riboud Monumentale: The Bronzes at the Pulitzer Art Foundation in St. Louis, Missouri, on view September 16, 2022–February 5, 2023. 


Dance of Spring (Song of the Birds) by Joseph Stella is on loan in the exhibition, Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature on view at the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach, Florida from October 15, 2022–January 15, 2023; the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia from February 23–May 21, 2023; and Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania from June 17–September 24, 2023.

Carry III by Dyani White Hawk (Sičáŋǧu Lakota, born 1976) was on loan in the exhibition, Dyani White Hawk: Speaking to Relatives at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver from February 16–May 22, 2022.

Tightrope: On the Edge by Elias Sime (Ethiopian, Born 1968) was on loan in the exhibition, Elias Sime: Tightrope at the Royal Ontario Museum. 

Yellow Jonquils #3 by Georgia O'Keeffe (American, 1887–1986) was on loan in the retrospective exhibition, Georgia O'Keeffe. The exhibition was on view at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid from April 20–August 8, 2021 before traveling to The Centre Pompidou in Paris where it was presented from September 8–December 6, 2021.
