Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art acknowledges it resides on the ancestral territory of the Osage, Kaw, and Otoe-Missouria, among other tribal nations forcibly moved to the region such as the Shawnee, Wyandot, Delaware, Potawatomi, Sac and Fox and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) nations. We recognize and support the continued vibrancy of Native communities and cultures today who continue to thrive, as well as the inherent sovereignty of tribal nations. We are compelled to serve and advocate for these communities in accordance with our public mission.

Join us for a gallery talk on the legacy of influential artist Frank Stella

Kemper Museum Executive Director Jessica May and Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art Director JoAnne Northrup will give a gallery talk inspired by influential artist Frank Stella, who passed away earlier this year.

Stella has been a prominent part of Kemper Museum's Permanent Collection since the museum's founding. Come by to hear about this remarkable artist's legacy and take a last look at The Prophet (D16, 2X), which has been installed prominently in the museum Atrium since its first decade, before August 12, when it will come down for an expanded Atrium Project installation.

May and Northrup will take the opportunity to reflect on the changing state of contemporary art museums and the ways in which they share their collections and showcase emerging artists.
