Robert Therrien's colossal sculptures, based on everyday objects such as plates, beds, tables, and chairs, examine the interplay of proportions and our relationship to objects. Robert Therrien elongates both the metaphorical and formal qualities of his bed sculpture, No Title, by ingeniously encouraging each to strengthen the other. The fantastically implausible helix shape, which corkscrews 35 feet through space, enhances the beds' otherworldly gigantism, creating a newly defined site where sense and orderliness step aside for antic reverie.
