Kemper Museum Community Statement

Kemper Museum Community Statement

In response to the recent focus on Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, UMB, and a detention facility in Rhode Island:

Kemper Museum fully supports a safe and welcome space for dialogue and discussion on topics that are important to the community and its future, thoughtfully exploring issues and solutions.

Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art does not condone the physical or psychological harm, verbal abuse, harassment, humiliation, or exploitation, systematic or otherwise, of individuals or groups.

We are proud of the long-standing history of our Museum, and the contributions this intellectual and cultural home has made in our community. We welcome all voices, as we remain committed to who we are and to our values.

In keeping with this commitment, we are engaging a group of community members to hold constructive dialogue on this issue. We understand that there are many viewpoints, and we want to be responsive by listening intently. We look forward to this convening in the days ahead and welcome productive and respectful conversations.
