Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art acknowledges it resides on the ancestral territory of the Osage, Kaw, and Otoe-Missouria, among other tribal nations forcibly moved to the region such as the Shawnee, Wyandot, Delaware, Potawatomi, Sac and Fox and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) nations. We recognize and support the continued vibrancy of Native communities and cultures today who continue to thrive, as well as the inherent sovereignty of tribal nations. We are compelled to serve and advocate for these communities in accordance with our public mission.

Kemper Museum acknowledges and respects the diversity of Native people connected to this land today. Many recognize the land and all beings who live within it as relatives. We acknowledge the earth we inhabit, the waters of the Blue River, the Kansas River, the Missouri River, and the plants, animals, and people supported by them.

Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is excited to announce a t-shirt design competition in celebration of our twenty-fifth anniversary! The Museum invites area artists to enter an original t-shirt design. The winning design will receive a $500 cash prize and be available for sale in the Kemper Museum Shop, where all purchases support Kemper Museum's free exhibitions and programs.

To be considered valid, entries must be emailed to communications@kemperart.org by the submission deadline with “T-Shirt Design Submission” in the subject field. The body of the email should include first and last name of the entrant, phone number (or best/preferred method of contact), and a JPEG, PNG, or PDF file of the entrant’s design attached to the email.

Submissions are limited: two designs per entrant

Design may incorporate Kemper Museum’s logo, façade, or year of creation (1994), but are not required to; the phrase “25th Anniversary” should not appear in the design

If selected, the entrant must be able to provide a vector-based EPS or AI file, or a PSD file of at least 300 DPI. Winning entrants will be given an agreement form which must be signed and returned to be declared the winner.

Designs will be juried based on how well they reflect the creativity and impact of contemporary art today, celebrating Kansas City and Kemper Museum’s history as an iconic part of the city’s arts and culture landscape since 1994.

Designs will be juried by a panel of Kemper Museum staff. The winning artist will be notified before the winning design is announced.
