Meet Shop Artist: Jamie Gray

Meet Shop Artist: Jamie Gray

Museum Shop

Jamie Gray is the Kansas City based designer and artist behind Grayjay Studio. Gray established her multidisciplinary art practice in 2013, while living in England. There she began selling her jewelry in some of London’s finest curated craft markets and independent boutiques and was also commissioned to create a collection for the Royal Academy of Arts museum shop.

Recently returned to KC, Gray now creates her original jewelry and fine art from her midtown studio at The Cherry Pit Collective. Before jewelry design, Gray worked as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the Kansas City Art Institute and it is her design background, as well as many years as an abstract painter, that guides her unique aesthetic.

For this collection, Gray inventively incorporates traditional marbling techniques into the jewelry making process. Each piece of her minimal and modern jewelry is individually handmade so that no two pieces are alike!

View her works in-person at the Shop or join us Saturday, November 24, for another "Pop Up at the Museum Shop" taking place from 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. in celebration of Small Business Saturday and featuring six remarkable local artists, including Jamie Gray – learn more here!
