You make an impact with a gift to the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art

I’m happy to share the good news that Linda Lighton and Lynn Adkins, long-time members and friends of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, contributed a $10,000 lead gift to our year-end campaign, double the amount they gave last year. Please join them with your own generous gift today.

Linda and Lynn know their gift goes far to cover the cost of exhibitions and programming that our audience truly appreciates free of charge. I am grateful for their confidence and commitment to the Museum and the arts.

Your donation keeps the Museum free for everyone. You can help nurture learning opportunities and allow young and old alike to engage with the art and artists of our time.

This year nearly 100,000 visitors enjoyed nationally recognized exhibitions and participated in educational programs at all three Kemper Museum locations. Our cost per visitor is $45, on average. Your generosity makes this possible. Today, I ask you to please consider a donation to continue this important work that enriches so many.

How do we know people appreciate what the Museum has to offer? Because they tell us. Here are a few recent comments:

"One of Kansas City's gems, an oasis for the mind and soul. In each visit I gain new insights into art, aesthetics, and ways to see reality. The architecture itself is a testament to the transcendence of space, and Café Sebastienne is certainly its own Kansas City destination." Frequent Museum visitor

"My students completed an art appreciation unit and the trip to the Kemper allowed them to apply their knowledge of the elements of art and artists to actual works in their community." Teacher from Harrisonville Middle School

"We appreciate getting ideas from the Fine Art Friday program that we can take home and do with our kids." Parent of homeschooled student

As you reflect on the many requests from worthy causes during this time of year, remember that a generous donation to the Kemper Museum inspires creativity, lifts spirits, and sparks imagination. The Museum is beginning its third decade as both a cultural and a civic jewel of Kansas City. Thanks to you, great things are happening!

Warmest wishes,

Barbara O’Brien Executive Director

You make it happen

Kemper Museum’s incredible free world-class art exhibitions and educational programming would not be possible without the support of people like you. From one dollar to $1,000 every little bit helps. Perhaps you were inspired by one of the Museum’s Artists Talks, featuring nine exhibiting artists during 2015. Or, your children or family enjoyed the wide variety of thought-provoking programs, such as Camp Kemper or Scavenger Saturdays. Now, you can help us continue our mission with a donation in the amount of your choice!

In 2015, nearly 4,000 school children experienced docent-led tours, including over 3,000 students from 41 area schools whose school received reimbursement for the cost of their transportation to and from the Museum. Another 2,800+ children and family members participated in storytelling in the galleries, camps, workshops, a collaborative program for children with and without special needs, and a homeschool program. More than 1,800 adults attended artist talks, panel discussions music performances, and workshops.

At the Kemper Museum, there is no charge for admission, special exhibitions, artist talks, or public programming – even our parking is free! By making a donation today, you will ensure that one of Kansas City’s only entirely free cultural institutions will continue to welcome nearly 100,000 visitors annually.

Our mission has never been more important as the Kemper Museum builds on a legacy of cultural and civic engagement. Your 100% tax-deductible gift to the Kemper Museum makes this possible. Thank you, in advance, for your contribution to the Annual Fund.
