Phantasmania
[978-1-891246-15-9]
$18.00

96 pages, 41 color plates and numerous details, 9.75 x 8.75 inches, ISBN: 978-1-891246-15-9, Library of Congress Control Number: 2007920141, published May 2007, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art

This 96-page, cloth-bound catalogue complements the Kemper Museum's exhibition Phantasmania, a survey of 17 emerging artists who examine a distinct undercurrent in today's artistic consciousness loosely defined by a proclivity toward escapism and a return to materiality that shares conceptual and aesthetic strategies with historical anti-rational and romantic movements. (Phantasmania is on view June 1–August 19, 2007)

The full-color catalogue features an introductory essay by exhibition curator Elizabeth Dunbar, addressing the "phantasmanic"¯ undercurrent and positing within the context of related art historical movements. Dunbar along with Kemper Museum Curator Christopher Cook and arts writer Becca Ramspott have written sections devoted to each artist which also includes multiple four-color plates. The catalogue also includes a foreword by Kemper Museum Director Rachael Blackburn Cozad and an exhibition checklist. $29.95
