In addition to designing the Bertoia Chair, famous for its open steel latticework seating, Bertoia is well known for his kinetic sculptures which often make noise when set in action. In this work, eight rows of 18 thin beryllium copper rods chime when gently brushed across the top. The moving rods suggest a patch of stiff, tall grass shivering in the breeze. |
