  Director and CEO's Welcome

Welcome to Kansas City’s Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, where we believe that the arts foster exchange, debate, and greater understanding of the human experience.

Through this Web site the Museum is pleased to present a global audience with an overview of the offerings you will find when visiting in person. Locally, the Kemper Museum is a valuable community asset that presents a growing permanent collection, special exhibitions, and community outreach programs to an audience of all ages and levels of interest. The Museum strives to represent artists of diverse genders, nationalities, artistic influences, media, and ethnicity. Admission is always free and the Museum is fully accessible in order to warmly welcome visitors with special needs.

Make sure you visit all three locations.  Our signature building near the Country Club Plaza is designed by Gunnar Birkerts and features the permanent collection, special exhibitions, Café Sebastienne and our Museum Shop.  Kemper East is located just a half-block away inside a restored, 100-year-old landmark property and features the Museum’s collection.  And our newest location, Kemper at the Crossroads, where special exhibitions by emerging artists are on view and extended hours keep us free and open to the public on Friday nights until 8 p.m. and Saturday until 6 p.m.

I’m Rachael Blackburn Cozad, the Museum’s director and CEO, and I hope you will enjoy exploring this site and make plans to visit us in Kansas City soon.
