Intimates: Family, Friends, and Lovers
July 9–December 16, 2005 (on view at Kemper East, 200 E. 44th St.)
see past exhibition gallery see current exhibitions

When we look at artists' depictions of people who are important to them, we gain a better understanding of how they convey complex relationships and emotional ties, and perhaps even gain some insight into our own connections with loved ones. Intimates explores how artists perceive friends, family members, and lovers with select works from the permanent collection, including Tina Barney's Bridesmaids in Pink, Male Nude by Paul Cadmus, and Family by Romare Bearden.
