City-based artist Maria Park uses a combination of media and techniques—including
acrylic on Acrylite, collage, and multi-colored vinyl applied directly
to the wall—to create environments of speed and digitized
experience. Her fantastical landscapes form the periphery of the
gallery and unfold like the sequence of a filmstrip to tell a story
of time and place. However, Park's story is disjunctive and nonlinear,
zooming from one location to the next, thereby creating an entire
landscape that could only exist in the mind. Maria Park was a visiting
artist at the Kemper Museum.
