This retrospective exhibition highlights the work of this profoundly influential and inventive painter. The exhibition includes fifty years of paintings and demonstrates Wayne Thiebaud's contributions to American popular culture and art history. Thiebaud is celebrated for his images of gumball machines, cakes, pies, lollipops, and other confections, as well as for his California landscapes and cityscapes. Many of the works in the exhibition are from the Thiebaud's family collection. Wayne Thiebaud was an artist in residence at the Kemper Museum.
