This exhibition of the Swiss-born photographer's works featured some of the most influential images of post-war America. Not since the 1959 publication in book form of this series of photographs has there been an opportunity to view them in a museum setting in their original sequence. The Americans is part of the larger retrospective exhibition of Frank's work which opened Fall 1994 at the National Gallery.
