New York- and Paris-based artist Ken Aptekar has been incorporating text
on glass in his work since 1990, ranging from a single word to narratives
exploring the myriad guises that constitute a complex individual. This ten-year
retrospective revealed how Aptekar knits together art history's and biography's
dialogues by borrowing paintings from Western art history and combining
them with witty, poignant, and often-autobiographical stories. Ken Aptekar
was an artist in residence. The exhibition traveled to The College of Wooster
Art Museum, Wooster, OH, and the Muscarelle Museum of Art, College of William
and Mary, Williamsburg, VA. |
