| Using images and text derived from family stories, sayings, and experiences, this exhibition examined the construction of Johnson's identity as a "white" child growing up in the Midwest of the 1950s and 60s. It raised questions about how decent people naively passed along the attitudinal underpinnings of racism. It also looked at the inherent contradictions within these experiences and searches for the sources of anti-racist values and actions. |
