After studying painting and sculpture at the Art Students’ League of New York, Dan Budnik built a career as a photographer for Magnum Photos. In addition to his well-known photographs of American sculptor David Smith, Budnik photographed Louise Bourgeois, Helen Frankenthaler, Willem de Kooning, and Roy Lichtenstein, among others. This exhibition pairs a selection of Budnik’s dye-transfer photographic prints from the 1950s to early '70s with works by the depicted artists from the Kemper Museum’s permanent collection. A fully illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition and is available in the Museum Shop. |
