American Pastoral by Robin Bernat

July 13–September 30 , 2007

Robin Bernat's past video works have explored longing, solitude, and romantic notions of love and beauty. In her work American Pastoral Bernat combines romanticized images of the American landscape of the South with indigenous American folk and gospel music. In this work she examines romantic and spiritual longing, faith, desire, and grace. The search for transcendence through a deep connection to the land and its music underlines Bernat's installation. Bernat lives and works in Atlanta, GA. She has exhibited her work at Solomon Projects, GA; in the 2000 Whitney Biennial, NY; and in other venues in the American southeast.
