  For Teachers

Preschool through university educators may schedule free school tours of the Kemper Museum.
The objective of the Kemper Museum school tour program is to engage students in discussion about modern and contemporary art and how it relates to students’ education and lives. With advance input from classroom and art teachers, we can tailor tour content to the groups’ needs. Thematic content, interdisciplinary curriculum connections, vocabulary words, etc., can be integrated into guided tours. Free teacher resources related to special exhibitions and/or seasonal teacher workshops are also available throughout the school year to assist educators in planning Museum visits.

Busing Program
The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art invites Kansas City, Missouri School District, Center School District, and Kansas City, Kansas, School District to take part in the Museum’s busing program. The Kemper Museum provides funds to cover transportation costs for school groups to and from the Museum. The purpose of this program is to engage students in discussion about contemporary art at the Museum and to make connections between art of today and their everyday lives. For more information about the busing program, and to request funds, please refer to the Group Tour Registration Form.

To book a group tour reservation, please download our Group Tour Registration Form. You can then print and complete the form and fax or mail it to us. For more information contact us at 816-457-6137 or

Busing Reimbursement Program is made possible with generous support from the Hallmark Corporate Foundation.

Teacher Workshops
After-school teacher "burnout buster" workshops are offered once each semester for educators of all levels. Connect with your colleagues, spend time in the Museum galleries, and gather ideas for your classroom.

School districts interested in planning district-wide in-service teacher workshops for integrating aspects of the Museum into their curriculum should contact the Museum’s education department at 816-457-6136 or
