  Visiting Artists

Each year, the Kemper Museum invites several exhibiting artists to participate as visiting artists. The Museum’s program allows area students to work directly with artists, in a variety of media. The Kemper Museum’s artists in residence also speak at their opening receptions, which are free and open to all.

This experience provides an opportunity for students to meet contemporary artists, discuss their work, and then participate in hands-on workshops at the Museum. Each artist’s visit is different, and is defined by the artist’s process or media. Typical residency workshops involve two student groups scheduled for two-hour blocks of time during the three days prior to the artist’s opening exhibition at the Museum. Transportation funding to and from the Museum may be available for teachers bringing student groups to work with visiting artists.

To learn about upcoming visiting artists, contact the Museum’s education department at education@kemperart.org.
